Fallout Season 2 Wraps Filming: The Wasteland Awaits in 2025!

Fallout TV show Seazon 2 wrapped up

*EDIT: we got the news from the Amazon Prime Video that Fallout TV Series: Season 2 Hits in December 2025, with Season 3 Already Confirmed!

The irradiated dust has settled, and the cameras have stopped rolling—Fallout Season 2 has officially wrapped production! Amazon’s Emmy-winning adaptation of Bethesda’s beloved post-apocalyptic RPG series is one step closer to bringing its retro-futuristic chaos back to our screens. With stars like Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell hyping up what’s to come, the anticipation for the next chapter in the Wasteland is already sky-high.

Listen to this article!

On May 8, the official Fallout TV show X account dropped the bombshell: “Achievement unlocked! Fallout Season 2 has wrapped production.” The announcement came with a gloriously grotesque video of Walton Goggins, who plays the fan-favorite Ghoul, peeling off his character’s gnarly facial prosthetics in slow motion. It’s a fittingly gnarly way to mark the end of filming for a show that revels in its gritty, irradiated aesthetic. Goggins, now free from the layers of makeup that transformed him into the scarred bounty hunter, flashed a grin that suggests he’s as excited as we are for what’s next.

Ella Purnell, who stars as the plucky Vault-dweller Lucy, also took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone. She shared a cozy selfie with Kyle MacLachlan, who plays her dad, Hank MacLean, captioning it with a nod to the wrap. Honestly, we’re a little jealous of Purnell getting to hang out with MacLachlan on set—talk about a dream gig! Her post only fueled the hype, reminding fans that the trio of Lucy, the Ghoul, and Brotherhood of Steel’s Maximus (Aaron Moten) will soon be back for more Wasteland adventures.

So, what can we expect from Season 2? While Amazon’s keeping the plot details locked tighter than a Vault-Tec bunker, we know the story will take us to New Vegas, the iconic setting from Fallout: New Vegas, as teased in Season 1’s explosive finale. Leaked set photos have already given fans a glimpse of the neon-lit Strip and the towering Lucky 38, hinting at a faithful recreation of the game’s Mojave Wasteland. Walton Goggins has been dropping tantalizing hints, telling GamesRadar+ that Season 2 is “on a whole ‘nother level” and that he “wasn’t prepared for where the story was gonna go.” Considering Season 1’s mix of dark humor, shocking violence, and heartfelt moments earned 17 Emmy nominations, that’s a bold promise.

Goggins, who nabbed an Emmy nod for his role as the Ghoul (aka Cooper Howard), has been on a hot streak lately, with standout performances in The White Lotus and The Righteous Gemstones. He’s called the Fallout set a labor of love, praising the “real magic” that happens in a second season when the world is established, and the story can dive deeper. “This is where some real magic can happen,” he told Complex, and we’re inclined to believe him.

As for when we’ll get to see the fruits of their labor, don’t hold your breath for a quick turnaround. With the show’s heavy reliance on VFX to bring its retro-futuristic world to life, post-production is expected to take a while. Sources like Collider and Kotaku suggest a premiere sometime in spring or summer 2026, roughly following the timeline of Season 1’s production. That feels like an eternity, but if Goggins’ enthusiasm is anything to go by, it’ll be worth the wait.

In the meantime, fans have plenty to chew on. Season 1’s cliffhanger left Lucy, the Ghoul, and Maximus converging on New Vegas in pursuit of cold fusion tech and answers about Vault-Tec’s shady past. Will we see familiar faces from the games, like Mr. House, pop up? Showrunner Graham Wagner has confirmed the show’s version of New Vegas will tie into the game’s lore while carving its own path, set just six years after the events of the 2010 classic. And with the show’s knack for blending Easter eggs with fresh stories, both longtime Fallout fans and newcomers have plenty to look forward to.

For now, the Wasteland is quiet—but not for long. Fallout Season 2 is shaping up to be a wild ride, and we can’t wait to see what kind of trouble Lucy, the Ghoul, and Maximus stir up next. Until then, keep your Pip-Boy tuned for updates, and maybe stock up on some Nuka-Cola to tide you over.
